Book a course – hybrid

BTI Hybrid courseRegistration for the Biosafety Practitioner Level 1 hybrid course is currently postponed.

Delegates may register for the full online course which is currently available.  The details below are for information purposes only.

This hybrid course is a combination of online learning and face to face training.  It runs over six weeks (online) followed by 3 days (face to face training in Edinburgh, Scotland).

Access to the online course materials will be given on the start date of the course.  Candidates have six weeks to complete the online part of the course before attending the 3 days face to face training. For more details, please click on the link below:

All of the online modules and assessments MUST be completed before attending the 3 day face to face training in Edinburgh.

Assessments

Some assessments are done online and some are done during the face to face training.  There are some multiple choice/multiple answers questions, and some which require text/short answers to be written.  For the text answers, short paragraphs and bullet points can be used – there is nothing as long as, for example, an essay.  You will also be required to do a presentation too, which is done on the last day of the face to face training.

Every assessment must be passed (50%) and overall, you will be required to achieve a score of 60% to pass the whole course.  Delegates will be offered the opportunity to re-sit assessments following the completion of the course, if the minimum mark is not achieved on the first attempt, if this is thought to be relevant.

Accreditation

You get the same accreditation whether you do the hybrid or online course.  If you successfully complete the BTI course you can apply to ISTR to become registered as a Biosafety Practitioner, if you have two years’ relevant experience.  Please see the following for more details
